Take all your photos and put them on a large table. You will have two sections: a "Yes" section and a "No" section. If photos are stuck in albums, that's okay. Take an eraseable marker and put small dots on the bottom right of photos you want to include in your video. Use Post-It notes (for example) to go from a loose photo in a stack, to a group of photos in an album. Remove photos from albums when possible.

1.) "Yes" section will include:

A.) All candid photos that show the character and personality of the people in your family. B.) Photos where people are doing something positive and fun. C.) Photos that cover the most important moments that took place in your family's history. Try to include a couple of photos from every year of each family member's life, if possible. Remember, only the highlights.

2.) Put all your "No" photos out of sight.

3.) Decide how many categories you wish to have.

4.) Categories may include: Great Grandparents, Grandparents, Mom & Dad, First Born, Second Born, Family & Friends, Trips, Grandchildren, etc.

5.) Put the photos in the order you would like them to appear.

6.) If you want to describe every memory in detail, come to our studio: We can incorporate your voice-over on one channel and instrumental music on another. This eliminates excessive titling.

You have many photos to go through. If a photos stays in your hand longer than 5 seconds, you're reminiscing.

8mm Films and
Videotapes

First, we transfer all your films over to VHS videotape in their entirety. We then send you copies to view and you write down on a piece of paper, in sequence starting with tape #1, the persons, places or things you do NOT want added into the final production. We then capture and edit the highlights of your films and videos into a tape with the most important photos and other documents you have chosen for your Heirloom Digital Video Productions "master tape."
